Gene-Specific PCR demonstrates that kainate receptors can be identified from fresh (A) or fixed tissue (B). C-E: Each of the AMPA, mGluR and EAAT genes can also be detected in fixed tissue. No genes were detected when reverse transcriptase was omitted (data not shown). Arrowhead indicates 600 base pairs.
