The WS-α-crystallin fractions were isolated from lenses of different ages by size-exclusion HPLC as described in Figure 1. 2D gel electrophoresis was performed as described in Methods. The spots-profile of 60 year old lenses was used as a reference gel. Similar spots in all the gels are shown with black arrows and the spots that differed by white arrows.
