In the left panel, anti-KCC2 detects cross-reacting protein at fiber borders of mature fiber cells (corresponds to the asterisk in Figure 3) and similar to calcium calmodulin dependent kinase IIα (CaMKIIα) detection in the adjacent field of view in the right panel, consistent with findings from previous studies (24; rabbit fiber cells are about 10 μm across in their longest dimension).
