Figure 8. Adherens junction genes and associated regulatory proteins expressed in retinal pigment epithelium

The Protein Lounge database was used to identify members of this class. Close to 50% of the genes identified were developmentally regulated. The data suggest extensive remodeling, as the expression of many genes was down-regulated even as expression of others was up-regulated. Genes for several cadherins were detected that were not previously associated with RPE junctions, including H-cadherin and cadherin 20. Mean values of 3-4 biological replicates are indicated according to the scale, in arbitrary units, depicted at the bottom. Complete gene titles and mean values with the associated p-statistic are listed in the corresponding Appendix 2.
