Table 2. Sensitivity and kinetic parameters for Pro347Ser-containing rods averaged on a per animal basis

A comparison of the single cell response properties shows systematic differences in rods expressing the P347S rhodopsin depending upon the level of retinal degeneration. The time to peak (ms) and flash sensitivity are measured on linear range responses. I1/2 (photons/μm2) is the stimulus intensity required to evoke a half-maximal response as in Figure 1D; Sf (pA/photon-μm2) is the flash sensitivity determined from the dim flash responses. Rod cell count is a measure of the rod cell density in the degenerating retina (see Figure 2 and text). All values are stated as means±SEM; the value given in parentheses is the total number of cells in which that parameter was measured.
