In situ hybridization for the keratan-sulfate proteoglycan keratocan was performed in mouse eye sections at 6 weeks post-wound. Positive keratocan mRNA signal is denoted by the presence of purple (arrowheads). Unwounded mouse corneas are positive for keratocan (arrowheads), but wounded corneas have little or no keratocan expression.
