Figure 6. Down-regulation of RPE65 promoter activity by retinoic acid (RA) analogues

The luciferase activity of the 1345 bp RPE65 promoter activity in HEK293 cells was measured following 24 h incubation with 10^-6 M of each of the following agents: all-trans retinol, 9-cis RA, all-trans RA, TTNPB, 4HPR, or Ro-40-6055. The control was the same promoter (P1345) with vehicle alone added. The activity of the vector (pGL3) alone (<10%) was subtracted from each data point. Data are plotted as means; error bars represent the standard errors of the mean (n=3). Asterisks ("*") indicate statistical significance as compared with the control (*p<0.05).
