Table 1. Morphometric analyses of the eyes of homozygous and heterozygous RGE chickens

Means of both eyes for intraocular pressure, axial length, corneal diameter, and eye weight of blind (rge/rge) and sighted (rge/+) chickens aged 6 to 10 months by sex. SEdM is the standard error of the difference between the two means for each trait. The traits were modeled sequentially using nested models. The table shows the significance (p value) of adding each term to the model. The significance for the "Sex" term is unconditional; the significance for the "Vision" and interaction ("Sex * Vision") terms are conditional on the presence of the preceeding terms in the model. The data were modeled using Residual Maximum Likelihood (REML) estimation.
