No reduction of apoptotic nuclei was found after injection of caspase-1 inhibitor. Inhibition of caspase-3 activity alleviated apoptotic cell death in the outer nuclear layer. There was a statistical difference between physiological saline treated and caspase-3 inhibitor treated tubby mice (p<0.05; groups marked with asterisks). Each group consisted of three mice.
