Thermal denaturation of wt and Q204E βB1 oligomers was assessed at 55 °C. Thermal denaturation curves were obtained by heating proteins at a concentration of 1.5 mg/ml in a 20 mM phosphate buffer, pH 6.8, and measuring light scattering at 405 nm. Error bars are standard deviation, N=4. A: wt βB1 (blue curve), Q204E βB1 (red curve), and αA (green curve) were heated at a concentration of 1.5 mg/ml for wt and Q204E βB1 and 1.1 mg/ml for αA. B: Wt βB1 (blue curves) was heated with or without an equal molar amount of αA. Q204E βB1 (red curves) was heated with or without equal molar amounts of αA or a 1:2 ratio to αA.
