In all three genotypes, the absorption maximum is at 504 nm (A). Heterozygous animals (trkB+/fbz) contain slightly, but insignificantly less rhodopsin in comparison to the wild type (WT) littermates, whereas rhodopsin levels are reduced by 56% in the homozygous (trkBfbz/fbz) mutants. Outer segment development is slowed down in the trkBfbz/fbz mice, as demonstrated by the significantly shorter outer segment lengths (C) when compared to those of their age matched littermates (B).
