As in Figure 1, the differences in eye weight among the three Rarb genotypes are expressed as residual values in milligrams after correction for differences in sex, body weight, and the logarithm of age. The gene dominance effect is striking. If the single knockout mouse (KO) with unusually small eyes is treated as an outlier, the gene dosage effect is reduced from 1.2 mg to about 1.0 mg, but the conclusions are not otherwise materially affected. The abbreviations "HT" and "WT" stand for heterozygotes and wildtype, respectively.
