Table 3. Inhibition of polyol accumulation in rat lens

Whole rat lens polyol levels were determined by GC/MS of whole lens from rats fed a control or 40% galactose diet for nine days. Percents are derived from combining 4 lenses and are percent of galactose or galactitol peaks on GC/MS; the glucose peak is not included. In the second column, "Percent inhibition" is a comparison to control values. Results are expressed as plus or minus standard error of the mean (SEM).
