Figure 1. Formation of lentoid bodies following PKCa or PKCg overexpression
N/N 1003A lens epithelial cells were plated in 6 well tissue culture plates and PKCa or PKCg overexpression was induced with 20 mM zinc acetate. PKCa overexpression caused lentoid structures to form beginning at 2 weeks (A); PKCg overexpression caused lentoid structures to form at 3 weeks (B). Lentoid bodies which formed from PKCa overexpression were more differentiated at 8 weeks (C) than those formed from PKCg overexpression at 8 weeks (D). C and D are representative samples of PKCa overexpression (n=28) and PKCg overexpression (n=29).
