Table 1. A comparison of cytoplasmic profile frequency in normal and cataractous nuclei

Normal and cataractous nuclei contain varying numbers of circular profiles. In this sample of about 7,000 mm2 of the embryonic/fetal nuclear regions in each lens, the normal nuclei have more profiles per cell than the cataracts, but the difference is not statistically significant (p=0.11).
