Lane 1: lens fiber RNA (20 µg); Lane 2: lens fiber RNA (10 µg); Lane 3: lens epithelium RNA (10 µg). The upper panel shows that 32P-labeled cDNA of clone 1 identifies an RNA from both epithelial and fiber cells (false positive clone). The same membrane was stripped and probed with 32P-labeled cDNA of clone 2. Clone 2 sequences are specifically expressed in epithelial cells. RNA blots shown are representative of four closely similar experiments.
