Figure 5. Phosphorylation of bovine rhodopsin by GRK7 and GRK1.

Extracts from nontransfected (NT) HEK-293 cells or cells expressing bovine GRK1 or ground squirrel GRK7 were used to phosphorylate bovine ROS membranes as described in the "Methods". ROS membranes containing bovine rhodopsin were incubated with [[gamma]32P]ATP in the presence (+) or absence (-) of light, then electrophoresed on a 10% SDS-polyacrylamide gel. Phosphorylation was visualized by phosphorimage analysis. The numbers at left represent protein molecular size markers (Biorad, Hercules, CA).
