Constructs range in size from 1.2 to 0.22 Kb and include the promoter region and 30 bp of exon 1. The 1.2 Kb construct (1) contains the AEE-like and TonE-like elements. The 1 Kb construct (2) lacks the TonE-like cis-acting element while the 0.84 Kb (3) and 0.22 Kb (4) constructs also lack the AEE-like element. Location of TonE-like and AEE-like elements are indicated by dashed lines.
