Mean age at recruitment in years and gender of the FECD cases and non-FECD controls, after classifying the cohort into those that harbor the expanded repeat of ≥50 copies, and those that do not. All the subjects are Caucasian. Note the individuals studied were all over 50 years of age at the time of recruitment. The mean age, and the age range, were similar between each sub-category and there was a consistent predominance of females in each group. A Fischer exact statistical test to compare the gender ratios between FECD cases (F: M, 81: 33) and non-FECD controls (23: 6), showed that the groups were well matched (p=0.4857).
