The ARPE-19 cells in a serum-free medium were pre-treated with R9-SOCS3-KIR (20 μM) or its control peptide for 1 h and then with IL-6 (50 ng/ml) for 0.5 h. The cells were washed, stained with an antibody to pSTAT3, Alexa-488-conjugated secondary antibody, and DAPI, and then imaged using a fluorescence microscope. Scale bar: 50 μm.
