The cytotoxic effect of the short-term incubation (40 min) on the mouse retinal explants was evaluated by measuring LDH released into the incubation buffer. Although exposure to anoxic conditions resulted in statistically significantly elevated LHD release, high glucose alone and in combination with proinflammatory cytokines did not affect the LDH release compared to the control retinas. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by post-hoc Dunnett’s multiple comparison test was used to determine significance.
