Figure 5. Reduced thickness measured in the pilot- and sPBS-treated eyes compared to untreated eyes. Cryosections were stained for opsin (green) and TO-PRO-3 (blue). The thickness of the photoreceptor outer segments and outer nuclear layer (PRS + ONL) was statistically significantly reduced in the pilot- and subretinal PBS injection (sPBS)-treated eyes compared to the untreated eyes (*p<0.05, **p<0.01, six images in two sections from two eyes per condition). No statistically significant differences were observed between any of the groups in the outer plexiform and inner nuclear layers (OPL + INL), the inner plexiform and ganglion cell layers (IPL + GCL), or total retinal thickness.
