Figure 1. Xaliproden protects ARPE-19 cells against mitochondrial oxidative stress. ARPE-19 cells were seeded in a microtiter plate
at 70% confluency and allowed to grow overnight. They were then placed in a serum-free medium and treated with 300 μM paraquat.
Increasing amounts of xaliproden were added as indicated, and the cells were incubated for 24 h. Cells were stained with Cell
Titer Aqueous (Promega), and the absorbance read in a plate reader. Cell survival was calculated using the absorbance of cells
with serum-free media as 100%.
