HLE-B3 cells were cultured in 100 mm² culture dishes and incubated with 1 µm XAV939 for 3 h in hypoxia as described in Figure 6. At the end of 3 h, the cell culture medium was collected. The experiment was repeated three times with independent cell populations, and the cell culture medium was evaluated for vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels using nine samples from three independent cell populations. The asterisk (*) signifies there was a slight but statistically sound increase in the VEGF levels of XAV939-treated cells compared with the controls (p<0.05).
