Figure 5. Curcumin alters hydrogen peroxide-induced miR-30 expression in ARPE-19 cells. As measured with the quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR)–based array, cells treated with 200 μM hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) for 18 h significantly induced miR-30b and miR-30d expression, compared to controls. However, curcumin and curcumin pretreatments for 6 h significantly reduced all five members of miR-30, when compared with controls. In the curcumin pretreated group, the cells were treated with curcumin for 6 h first, and then the cells were incubated for 18 h with H2O2.
