Figure 4. Anakinra reduced the expression of keratinization marker. Transcriptional profiling using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) of messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) from corneolimbal sheets derived from the ocular surface of autoimmune regulator (Aire) knockout (KO) mice revealed that anakinra treatment significantly decreased ocular surface expression of keratin envelope protein, Small Proline- Rich Protein-1B (SPRR1B) (carboxymethylcellulose [CMC] vehicle ΔCt: 2.68±1.2 versus anakinra ΔCt: 7.39±1.3; p=0.03). A lower ΔCt indicates higher expression levels.
