Neovascularization was scored according to the distance from the limbus to the farthest end of the new vesicles: 0 (no visible vessels in cornea), +1.5 (1/4 distance to center), +2 (1/3 distance to center), +3 (1/2 distance to center), +4 (2/3 distance to center), +4.5 (3/4 distance to center) and +6 (vessels reach center).
