The ROS signal was weak in AST treated corneas (B) and close to unspecific ROS signaling in naïve corneas (C). The mean gray values of the corneal epithelium of DHE stained slides were evaluated by Image J software and summarized (D). Mean gray values were significantly lower in corneas treated with 1 mg/ml AST eye drops than in the vehicle-treated eyes (p<0.05).
