Receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve analysis demonstrates MMP-9 to have a significant ability to distinguish patients who have SRF from patients who do not have SRF accumulation, with an area under curve (AUC) of 0.8492 and a p-value of <0.0001. This data could be used to determine a threshold level of MMP-9 that would be indicative of SRF accumulation, and possible worsening of AMD pathology.
