Chromosomes with the highest and lowest z-scores were selected after analysis of log-transformed Illumina BeadChip data. A z-score is a statistical rating of the relative expression of genes, and shows how much they are over- or under-represented in a given gene list [59]. Positive z scores represent a greater number of genes meeting the criterion than is expected by chance, whereas negative z scores reflect fewer genes meeting the criterion than expected by chance [59]. Z-scores with values >2.0 or <-2.0 are quite significant and are highlighted in bold print.
