Viability was measured by MTT assay and is expressed as a percentage relative to cells grown in the absence of lenses, n=4 to 5, mean±standard deviation. Integrin expression was measured by flow cytometry and is expressed as a percentage relative to cells grown in the absence of a lens, n=3 to 4, mean±standard deviation. ^# Significantly different from cells exposed to PBS and 1% dilution of respective solution (p<0.002), ^* Significantly different from no solution and PBS (p<0.04).
