Figure 1. Effects of 4 concentrations of dexamethasone on lens transparency. Whole lenses were cultured for 48 h without (A) or with (B-E) dexamethasone. Photographs were taken at the focus of the posterior zone, or through the anterior pole. In the presence of dexamethasone, posterior subcapsular opacities developed in the lenses. Without dexamethasone, lenses remained clear. Arrows: areas of opacity.
