A: Average (±standard deviation) fibril separation distance across the corneas of animals fed a normal (AA+) or ascorbic acid deficient deficient (AA-) diet, with (UVB+) or without (-) daily UVB exposure (Groups A: n=3; B: n=2; C: n=3; D: n=3). In the UVB-exposed corneas only,  fibril separation distance was significantly lower in the central 4 mm of the cornea than in the peripheral cornea (p<0.01).
