ARPE-19 cells by reverse transciptase PCR. Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO)-
and fenretinide (FR)-treated cells express mRNAs normally associated
with neuronal and retinal cells in culture and lose retinal pigment
epithelium (RPE) cell markers. mRNA expression was detected in DMSO-
and FR-treated cells using reverse transcriptase PCR. Primer pairs
based on human opsins, and retinal, neuronal, and RPE cell marker
sequences were used to amplify products from equal amounts of cDNA. A
no-template RNA control (NTC) and a reaction lacking reverse
transcriptase (-RT) was included for each amplification. Tbp
was amplified as a positive loading control.
