Figure 8. Inhibition of protein kinase C
(PKCδ) prevented ethambutol (EMB)-induced suppression of rod outer
segments (ROS) uptake in ARPE 19. The fluorescein isothiocyanate
(FITC)-labeled ROS were added to the cells without any treatment (CON),
in the presence of 8 mM EMB alone, EMB plus 3 μM Rottlerin (EMB/rott),
or Rottlerin alone (CON/rott) in ARPE19 for 5 h. The FITC-labeled ROS
(green dot) uptake by the cells were observed under a phase contrast
microscope (200× magnification). The nuclei were stained with PI (red)
as counterstaining. The figure shown was representative of two repeated
experiments.
