Real time PCR analysis of genes involved in the removal of cytosolic Ca²⁺ was performed; plasma membrane Ca²⁺ ATPase (PMCA) genes 1 to 4, Na⁺/Ca²⁺ exchanger (NCX) 2 and 3 and sarcoplasmic endoplasmic reticulum ATPase (SERCA) 1-3. The result of a comparative analysis of the expression of each of these genes is presented here as mean CT value (±SD) for both NLC and GLC. Gene expression is normalized to 18s. As is evident from the above table we observe a down-regulation in PMCA1 expression in GLC compared to NLC and an up-regulation of SERCA3 expression in GLC compared to NLC. NRM indicates that there was no reliable mean obtained for NLC values possibly due to low expressional levels. NSD indicates that there was no significant difference between the mean CT value (±SD) for both NLC and GLC.
