Figure 4. Epithelial cell adhesion molecule- short interfering RNA treatment decreases the mRNA expression of epithelial cell adhesion molecule in Y79 cells. The mRNA levels of Epithelial cell adhesion molecule (Ep-CAM) in Y79 cells treated with Ep-CAM- short interfering (si)RNA was decreased by 11-fold (p<0.001), 12-fold (p<0.001) and 5.5 fold (p<0.01) at 24, 48, and 72 h respectively when compared with Ep-CAM mRNA levels in Y79 cells treated with scrambled (SCR) siRNA (dotted bars). The mRNA levels of Ep-CAM in Y79 cells treated with Ep-CAM-siRNA was decreased by 11-fold (p<0.001), 12-fold (p<0.001) and fivefold (p<0.01) at 24, 48, and 72 h, respectively, when compared with Ep-CAM mRNA levels in control (CTRL) Y79 cells (solid bars). The error bars represents the standard deviation of triplicate values and the statistical analysis was performed using independent t-test.
