Evolutionarily conservation of the lysine residue at position 836 of the WFS1 protein was assessed through multiple alignment of WFS1 protein sequences derived from different species. The arrowhead marks the lysine residue (K) at position 836. The multiple sequence alignment shows that the lysine is highly conserved in the different species which provides evidence that this residue is important for proper protein functioning.
