It was obtained by insertion of a PCR fragment containing the genomic MIP sequence into the pTARGET mammalian expression vector after the A-tail was added. It consists of the 5′ flanking sequence of exon 3, exon 3, intron 3, and exon 4 including the coding and the 3-untranslated region (3′UTR) which was amplified using primers MIPS and MIPAS.
