The table shows the percentages of live, apoptotic (early and late) and dead cells in two different cell populations (more and less complex) obtained from tarsal and bulbar human conjunctival epithelium. Most of the brush cytology-recovered cells (>75%) were larger, more complex and had poor viability (20.8±2.4% and 21.8±3.8% in tarsal and bulbar cells, respectively). The remaining cells (<25%) were smaller, less complex but with higher viability (82.0±2.4% and 73.8±6.4 in tarsal and bulbar cells, respectively).
