transcribed into cDNA. Real-time PCR was performed using specific
primers (see Methods). mRNA expression of UCH-L1 was adjusted to the
mRNA copies of β-actin (reference gene). Results indicate that mRNA
expression level of UCH-L1 was significantly lower in elevated
intraocular pressure (IOP) retinas compared to control. UCH-L1 commonly
linked to other neurodegenerative diseases, may play a role in optic
nerve degeneration. Data are expressed as a ratio of the control value
and each column represents mean±SEM. The asterisk denotes statistical
significance of ratio from IOP treatment versus that of control as
determined by One-way ANOVA and Tukey multiple comparison test at
p<0.05.
