Whole-mounted corneas from p27^+/+ and p27^-/- mice were stained with Alexa Fluor 488-phalloidin and ToPro-3 and examined by confocal microscopy. As is apparent from these projection images, the mutant endothelium consists of an ordered array of cells with an appreciably higher density than that of the normal tissue. Nevertheless, both monolayers possess predominantly, if not exclusively, mononucleated cells. Scale bar represents 40 μm.
