Whole-mounted retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) tissue from wild-type (A and C) and mutant (B and D) P7 retinas were labeled with Alexa Fluor 488-phalloidin (A and B) and propidium iodide (C and D) and examined by confocal microscopy. An increase in cellular and nuclear packing density is apparent in these images taken from a region midway between the central and peripheral retina. Scale bar represents 40 μm.
