In each of the wild-type retinas examined, there is virtually no evidence of either detachment or dysplasia (n=4). Mutant retinas, on the other hand, exhibit both types of structural abnormality in varying amounts. However, loss of RPE-photoreceptor interdigitation appears to be uncorrelated with the magnitude of outer nuclear layer dysplasia (r=-0.189).
