A: Ethidium bromide stained agarose gels showing the relative levels of PRDX3 mRNA and GAPDH control transcript present in 50 ng of RNA obtained from lens epithelium and fiber cells detected by semi-quantitative RT-PCR. Total RNA was amplified with PRDX3 specific primers for 30 PCR cycles. Product sizes are indicated. B: PRDX3 protein levels detected in 10 μg of protein extracts prepared from lens epithelium and fiber cells by western blotting. The 28kD PRDX3-specific band is indicated. A coomasie stained gel prepared from 10 μg of the same extract is shown as a control for protein loading.
