The rats received intravitreal injection of rAAV-angiostatin in the right eyes and rAAV-lacZ in left eyes, and diabetes was induced three weeks after injection. A: Each blot is a representative of the results from five rats. B: Occludin levels were semi-quantified by densitometry, and normalized to actin. The rAAV-angiostatin significantly decreased retinal occludin loss as compared to eyes receiving rAAV-lacZ injection at 10 days after induction of diabetes (the asterisk indicates significance using the Wilcoxon signed rank test, n=5, p=0.041).
