Figure 4. Pax6+/lacZ/AP-2α+/- embryonic mouse eyes

Histological sections were examined at E11.5, E15.5, and E18.5 using hematoxylin and eosin (H & E) staining. At all embryonic stages, the AP-2α+/- eyes (B, F, J) resembled wild type eyes (A, E, I). Pax6+/lacZ eyes (C, G, K) and Pax6+/lacZ/AP-2α+/- eyes (D, H, L) demonstrated lens separation defects and at E15.5 and E18.5, the Pax6+/lacZ/AP-2α+/- eyes (H, L) demonstrated persistent corneal-lenticular adhesions as compared to the Pax6+/lacZ eyes (G, K). LV, lens vesicle; LS, lens stalk; LE, lens epithelium; C, cornea; E, epidermis; LSR, lens stalk remnant. All scale bars are 100 μm.
