Figure 1. Raman spectra of the outer and inner plexiform layers

The spectra, which were acquired using 633 nm excitation, reveal the biochemical similarity between the spectra of the inner (IPL) and outer (OPL) plexiform layers. The only significant spectral difference between the two layers appeared to match the profile of fatty acid based lipid (asterisk).
