A greater proportion of immunopositive cells were seen in lamina A1 than in lamina A in all groups of animals. In strabismic and Y-blocked animals the percentage of positively stained cells was significantly reduced in the LGN lamina in both hemispheres that receive input from the deviating eye or the Y-blocked eye compared to normal cat. Although the number of immunopositive cells driven by the nondeviating eye of the strabismic cats was reduced, the difference was not significant. A marked reduction in immunopositivity of the laminae of both hemispheres receiving input from the Y non-blocked eyes is apparent. Error bars represent one standard error of the mean.
