FITC-Isolectin staining of retina after injection with vehicle (A) or 1 ng VEGF165b (B) with similar ischemic insult. Retinas from uninjected eyes of vehicle (C) and VEGF165b (D) groups. Areas of neovascularization, ischemia and normal vasculature are identified. The areas of the regions so identified were mapped out by observer blinded with respect to treatment, and areas calculated using NIH Image J (4x objective). Retinal quadrants are approximately 2.3 mm across.
